What should I bring?
Warm clothes, towel, boardies/swimming gear, and a big appetite. We also recommend bringing high factor sun cream as even on cloudy days your face can burn.
What if I have my own board?
Let us know when you’re booking – we will always try to accommodate boards on the minibus but we must have advance warning.
What if I don’t want to surf?
We will happily deduct the price of the surf hire from the trip. Come and join us on the beach or chill out at the farm…the choice is yours.
What if the weather is bad or there is no surf?
Please see flat days and other activities.
How far is the beach from the farm?
The beach is about 10 minutes away from the farm.
Will I get cold?
With wetsuit technology as it is, you really shouldn’t feel the cold, but nevertheless we always have flasks of hot drinks waiting for you when you get out of the water.
Where do we leave from?
We depart from Hammersmith, please see the travel section for more information.
How can I find out more about organic farming?
Little Comfort Farm is fully organic and Roger will happily take you on a farm tour, as he feeds the animals, if you’re up early enough! Listening to him will change your eating habits for life!
What do I need to know about surfing before coming on the weekend?
You don’t need to know anything as you will be fully briefed before you hit the water. However, if you want to know more www.surfing-waves.com/beginners_guide_surfing.htm is a good place to start. You can follow links to find out more about basic rules of surfing, wave priority and surfing technique.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
It is a British Surfing Association requirement that you can swim 50m and as such, we ask you to confirm this on the booking form. During the lesson, you will not be out of your depth for the majority of the time, but if you are particularly nervous, please let the instructors know and they will keep a special eye on you.
Do you offset your carbon emissions for the weekend?
Yes! We plant trees using www.carbonfootprint.com in Devon and London, so hopefully we can all enjoy the benefits. New trees and woodland counteracts the affects of global deforestation and provides wildlife and amenity benefits. Mature trees can store up to 1 ton of carbon. Each woodland creation offset plants more than one new tree per ton of offset in the UK.For more tips on reducing your carbon footprint, see Minimise your carbon footprint.
